Cream Cheese Kutchen

My mom has an awesome friend who lives in the Seattle area and when we went to visit her a few years ago, she made us this delish little danish that was sweet and buttery and unbelievably simple to make - only 5 ingredients! If you're looking for a simple breakfast treat that's sure to please, look no further!

The crust component is made from crescent roll dough - that's right, the kind that comes in the tube in the refrigerator section of the grocery store. I found out Pillsbury now makes Hawaiian Roll crescent rolls, so I opted to use that, but the plain kind works just as well.

Servings: 12

Prep Time: 10 min

Total Time: 50 min

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 tubes of crescent rolls

  • 2 8oz cream cheese packages

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish.

  2. Spread the contents of one of the crescent roll tubes on the bottom of the prepared dish.

  3. In a bowl with an electric or stand mixer, combine the cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and 2 egg yolks (save the egg whites) until smooth. Spread the cream cheese mixture in the pan on top of the spread out crescent roll dough.

  4. Lay out the contents of the second tube of crescent roll dough over the top of the cream cheese mixture.

  5. Brush the top of the dough with the egg whites and sprinkle the top with some extra sugar.

  6. Bake for 40 minutes. The top should get dark golden brown.
